Taste Of Italy

taste of Italy

In its seventh year, with over 1,00 attendees and more than 500 products on display, this event is the largest trade fair in the U.S. devoted exclusively to Italian wine and food products, producers, and gastronomic traditions.

In addition to tastings of Italian food and wine, the event also hosts presentations by and for food and wine professionals. Past seminars have included talks from Houston Chronicle columnists J.C. Reid and Dale Robertson, master sommelier Steven McDonald (Pappas Bros. Steakhouse), food historian Liz Williams, and local wine writer-publicist Jeremy Parzen on topics such as how to order Italian wine and which Italian wines pair best with Texas barbecue.

With current events, we strategized and pivoted to a digital event platform to host B2B meetings between producers in Italy and buyers in U.S. Following two successful virtual events, Taste of Italy looks forward to the future of trade fairs.

For Pecorino cheesemakers like me who are visiting the U.S.A. for the first time and looking to make contacts with eventual business partners, The Italy-America Chamber of Commerce Texas does a great job or organizing and creating the right opportunities for meeting and growing B2B relationships. I also really enjoyed the authentic Mariachi band at the gala dinner last year. Fantastic!

Texas has so much opportunity in wine for Italian producers but it is very difficult for someone who does not know the market to make the most useful contacts. The Taste of Italy festival thanks to the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce Texas helped me meet many importers and distributors with whom I am currently discussing the potential of working together. The exhibitor seminar was very useful and I was happy to meet the buyer for a major super market chain. I will be back next year.

Not only did I meet my importer at Taste of Italy Houston but also I have made contact with many people from the press including journalists, bloggers, and Instagram users. I have also found the Houston restaurant and food community to be well educated and curious about Italian food products. It wasn’t my first time in the U.S.A. and I am glad I have come to Houston in Texas!

Taste of Italy is one of the best Italian-focused food and wine events I’ve attended in the U.S., with a vibrant trade component and consumer-friendly seminars — the perfect balance. And it’s great to get to co-present with some of Houston’s top media and food and wine professionals. I look forward to it every year
